5 Awesome iPhone Apps for Kids

Charley Harper's Peekaboo Forest
Here at Shorties we wear our love for Charley Harper on our sleeve. Peekaboo Forest is a beautiful app, encouraging children to really explore the natural worlds within each illustration. The sounds are adorable, it's educational, and it looks good enough to hang on a wall. Perfection!

Mousefish
Mousefish is free little flip book pairing very sweet illustrations with kooky creatures. Sweet and simple, and yet a delight for kids who truly find it hilarious to mix and match the various parts of each character.

Toca Doctor
All of the apps by Swedish studio Toca Boca are mighty awesome, but Toca Doctor takes the cake. Kids play doctor in this beautifully designed game. The puzzles are fun, not too challenging, and playable again and again. We love the 60's picture book style illustrations and the unmistakable glint of Scandinavian sensibility. Bandaged thumbs up!

Paper Town Friends
We do love a good dress-up game, and we know we're not alone. Little ones will just love creating funny outfits and characters with this app that brings to life the textures and colours of that old favourite, the paper doll. Such crafty fun.

Montessorium - Intro to Math
The Montessorium have made some brilliant apps for reading and learning letters. This is a great app for kids of all ages, encouraging them to explore the broader concept of numbers. Using the principles of Montessori education, children are guided gently and intuitively, and the result is a thoroughly engaging experience, even for quite young kids.
